We at asanaFIT are dedicated to sharing the gifts of yoga: the health, happiness and freedom of a practice that can give the power to quiet our minds, soothe our hearts and strengthen our bodies. We wanted to share some long-standing suggestions, designed to enhance your experience in yoga class and to respect the needs of the others in the class.

Please notice where you are when you enter your Yoga Class. It is requested that you leave your egos in the lobby along with your shoes, key and cell phones. So, notice if you have overlooked this important instruction. Let the ego rest and come to the true experience of yoga. Welcome.

Important Yoga Etiquette -

The yoga studio is a sanctuary for many of us please respect it. If you need to speak to a member of your class about something urgent, it is appreciated by all if you invite that person out to the lobby to make plans, greet, or exchange information.Respect the silence of the room.

  1. Please plan your arrival time to be at least five to ten minutes early, but no more than fifteen minutes early (for those of you who like to come and meditate). Sometimes other classes are being attended. Respect other students and the instructor.
  2. Cell Phones and Beepers should be turned OFF. Please leave these items along with your shoes, purse, and other items in the lobby area cubbies. Please leave your valuables locked in your car.
  3. Stay the entire class, respect others meditation. If you must leave early, please tell your instructor and position yourself at the back of the room near the door and leave quietly.
  4. Please bring your water, towel, and mat into the room before class begins. If you need water or a towel during class, ask the instructor to get it.
  5. Please no perfumes, lotions, or any strong smells in the class. Some students have allergies. Respect others sensitivities to scents and odors; feel free to shower before class if necessary.
  6. Breathe softly, quietly, deeply through the nostrils. Do not hold your breath while moving into, sustaining, or coming out of any posture. Holding the breath strains the heart and the nervous system.
  7. Please remember it is distracting and impolite to have conversations during class. Please refrain from talking before, during, and after class while in the practice space. Always respect the silence of the room.
  8. If you do not want assists or physical contact, please let the instructor or assistant know.
  9. Please clean around your mat after class - leave your area sweat and trash free.
